Pip & Polly’s Purleigh Wedding
This wedding was the perfect welcome back to work; I was surrounded by many very familiar faces.
So many couples whose weddings I had photographed over the years, and a few new additions to their families.
Polly and Pip had been their guests, members of the wedding party, and now it was their time after a wonderful decade together.
And it was such a pleasure to meet two very important members of the family, and probably the best behaved wedding guests I’ve met… they greeted the guests arriving at the church, kept their flower collars on all day, and didn’t steal any of the hog roast despite really wanting to.
Betty did however sit and stare at the man dishing up the evening food for a very long time in hope he would give in and let her have some.
Pip and Polly got married at the All Saints church in Purleigh in Essex.
In a 1926 Bentley they headed off for a little drive, and the dogs travelled in style too!
James and George drove them in an orange Morgan to the reception in Latchingdon.
There was a beautiful view over the River Crouch awaiting us all at the reception. I’ve lived down the road in South Woodham for decades, so I know the river well, but not from this vantage point.
I felt like I was miles away from home, not a few minutes away. It was an idyllic setting for drinks on the lawn, for the dogs to run around… for everyone to do some much needed catching up with each other in real life.
And I got to work with the brilliant Philip Smith Visuals again too.
I was working and still had an amazing time…great company really does make a wedding day. There are very few pictures of Polly and Pip without a beaming smile on their faces!
They finally made it.
