Alyssa & Jack: Wedding at The Boileroom
Alyssa and Jack planned their wedding day keeping in mind what they would most like to do with their friends and family for just one day. It was so much fun!
They chose a unique venue with personal meaning: The Boileroom music venue in Guildford, where they had attended many gigs together over the years. The venue was perfect for their wedding, and I loved the posters they designed and placed around the venue. This is why a dry hire wedding is a fantastic option, the opportunity to personalise knows no bounds.
Alyssa walked down the gig venue aisle to Blur’s Tender, and exchanged vows with Jack on the stage, decorated with beautiful colourful flowers, a stage that had hosted so many bands. A family friend officiated, and a friend gave a heartfelt speech about their history and best wishes.
Jack read an extract from The Road by Cormac McCarthy, and Alyssa read from Emily Brontë’s Wuthering Heights. Then, it was time for cocktails and conversation in the sunshine outside, with food from Paella Fella.
Instead of speeches, their friend James planned a pub quiz. This wasn’t a light and easy quiz; it was challenging and fun! I am quite a pub quiz fan so rather enjoyed this. The winners were rewarded with an ironic prize: a Royal Worcester Margaret Thatcher plate from 1989, fitting as it was the week before the General Election.
The evening continued with dancing. The tribute band ABBA’s Angels took to the stage, and a packed and delighted dance floor was guaranteed for the entire set.
This was followed by a carefully curated playlist, full of humour and bangers. Kicking off with Nickelback’s “Rockstar” and Britney Spears’ “Toxic,” even Black Lace made an appearance with the Hokey Cokey.
Alyssa and Jack got the unforgettable wedding they wanted!
