Alex & Tim: The Ferry House
It was a rainy day on the Isle of Sheppey for this wonderful waterside wedding at The Ferry House, a venue I’ve always wanted to visit for the views and incredible food. Their 1.5 acres of kitchen garden, supplies their restaurant… a quote from their website ‘Plot to Plate’ sums it up.
In the new Garden Lodge, during the bridal preparations, you could watch the garden team tending to the Kitchen Garden while the bridal party got ready. A calming view for the morning of the wedding as we awaited the arrival of the bespoke outfit. The designer Jatin of Kalikas Armour brought it personally to the venue so he could help dress the bride and join in the celebrations.
Alex and Tim had planned to marry outside by the water under the Oak Gazebo, but the very wet weather that morning meant they switched to the Oak Barn for the ceremony. With hops and fairy lights decorating the oak beams, it was a cosy and warm space for this moment. Alex’s mum walking with her down the aisle and Tim’s dad as Best Man… it was a beautiful ceremony. The weather cleared, allowing us to enjoy the views over the Swale from the terrace when the guests enjoyed the post-ceremony drinks and canapes.
I was in for a treat in the evening. Alex and Tim took to the dance floor for the first dance and I got to see for myself about their dancing skills that I had heard about during the speeches, and the same goes for many of their friends!
I left The Ferry House late at night, while the newlyweds and their friends enjoyed the fire pit in the grounds of the venue.
