Essex Documentary Wedding Photographer: Candid Kiss at Wedding Reception A newly married couple at their wedding reception at Never For Ever restaurant. London wedding. They are holding full champagne flutes.

My documentary-style wedding photography is a perfect match for weddings in London.
Authentic, stylish, and relaxed.
With the emphasis on having a great time with your people, celebrating your wedding day and life together.
I won’t be bossing anyone around, nor trying to make things look neat and tidy for a photo.
The wedding photographs I take are real and full of life. No stress, no clichés, and no directing your day.

Anything can happen in this vibrant, diverse, and inclusive setting. The location is a part of the wedding, it’s a whole living breathing city of a wedding venue.
I immerse myself in the day, the people, and my surroundings. I’ve been a professional documentary wedding photographer for 14 years now, watching out for the perfect moment to photograph is innate and part of who I am, even when I don’t have a camera with me.

I enjoy how friendly complete strangers are to newly married couples. Random passersby going about their day will wave or even go out of their way to offer their best wishes as the wedding party walk along a busy bustling street. It’s a heartwarming side of London life to see.

Then of course we have the party, and I know I am guaranteed fantastic music and a very busy dance floor when I photograph a London wedding.
I am often delighted at some of the musical choices.
I fondly remember one wedding where the DJ played half an hour of just Northern Soul during the reception.

Nick Cave’s Into My Arms I think has to be one of the most romantic songs, absolutely perfect for a wedding… yet so far I’ve only heard it once. When a bride and groom walked down the aisle after their Stoke Newington Town Hall ceremony.
I’m writing this listening to BBC 6 Music on a wet and windy Sunday afternoon, and that song did just come on and remind me. Perfect timing.

something old, something new

The main title font I use is Neue Haas Grotesk, a mid-century classic, the original Helvetica! That’s my “something old.” For body text, I’ve chosen Authentic Sans, a which is very now (the condensed version is used on Charli XCX’s brat album cover). That’s my “something new.” A quiet nod to wedding traditions, woven into the design of my website.

Hackney Town Hall, known for its’ striking art deco design reminded me to get round to mentioning why I made my choices. I get a bit geeky about design, both graphic and architectural, and I love spotting the connections between them. It’s all part of how I think about weddings and how they’re documented.
