ESSEX WEDDINGS
Leez Priory: Manor House Wedding Venue
Leez Priory is in Hartford End, Great Leighs. Between Chelmsford and Braintree in Essex.
The Grade I listed building was the very first country house to be licensed for civil ceremonies in the UK, after the passing of the Marriage Act 1994. Before then, you could only marry in a church or a registry office. This was a bill introduced by Gyles Brandreth. Who’d have thought he’d play a part in so many wedding days!
A place that has so much history, from its origins as an Augustinian priory around 1220 (the remains of which are still visible) to the building of the 16th-century Tudor house. So much history, so many people have visited or lived in this place… and I wonder just how many couples have married here since 1995.

Documentary Wedding Photography
I’m based in nearby South Woodham Ferrers in Essex.
A full-time documentary wedding photographer for 15 years specialising in candid and relaxed coverage.
Tracy is the most wonderful photographer; super friendly, very skilled, and her non-intrusive, documentary-style photography really helped make our wedding day what we wanted it to be – laid-back and fun!
The results are fabulous with tonnes of gorgeous candid pics of us and all our guests all having the best time (though we also got Tracy to do a couple of the more traditional family group-shots and these are brilliant too.) Can’t recommend highly enough!
