High House wedding venue
preparations + pool
High House Weddings offers a beautiful dressing room, perfect for getting ready. It overlooks the private gardens and an inviting swimming pool.
Outdoor Wedding Ceremony
On the grounds of High House, the thatched gazebo is perfect for a beautiful spring ceremony in the sunshine of the Crouch Valley. Known for being sunnier and drier than other areas, this region supports a thriving wine industry, with vineyards lining the River Crouch, including the nearby Althorne Estate.
2025: A New Era at High House and the Orangery
I’m genuinely excited about the new Orangery at High House, set to replace the existing temporary marquee. As a photographer with a passion for architecture and planning, I’ve been following the design process closely.
The plans, drawn up by the Tollesbury based firm Plater|Claiborne, have me looking forward to working with the stunning light and shadows this orangery will offer. It’s always a joy to photograph spaces like this, where the natural light truly enhances the atmosphere—something that can be missing from traditional all white marquees where the light can be quite uniform.

essex documentary Wedding Photographer
I’ve been capturing weddings across the UK and Europe, traveling far and wide, for over 15 years with my natural, candid reportage style. Based in South Woodham Ferrers, I sometimes find myself closer to home at High House—my nearest venue, just 15 minutes away along the River Crouch. It’s been great to see new venues like this emerge locally over the years since I first started photographing weddings.
