Victoria & George: Marquee Meadow Wedding in Norfolk

This is part two of my posts about Victoria and George’s Norfolk wedding. The first part is linked just below. A couple of days before the wedding, a pre-wedding drinks reception was held as a warm-up for the main event.
With views like these over Stourton Water, you might as well make the most of this fantastic location for entertaining friends and family.

A couple of years ago, I had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of Victoria’s sister Lydia in Thaxted and nearby Little Sampford (you can find the link at the bottom of this post), so I already knew that this wedding was going to be a fantastic day, full of food, laughter, and a big party… and that I would be so warmly welcomed yet again by the family. I was so pleased to see everyone again, including the dogs, and I got to meet the new member of the family, Lydia and David’s little girl!

I stayed over the night before in nearby Norwich so I could arrive at the Wild Meadow Barn in Cawston bright and early. I arrived just as Victoria came out to greet Louisa, the flower farmer and florist from Brunstead Blooms, delivering the beautiful bouquets for the day.

The preparations were well underway: makeup, hair, dresses, food, and drink. There was a lovely moment where George’s wonderful niece, the eldest flower girl, was in the hallway helping to teach the younger flower girl about walking down the aisle and their duties for the day.
It was a busy but very relaxed morning before heading off to the pretty cul-de-sac of a village called Heydon for the church ceremony conducted by Rev’d Canon Julie Boyd. Then, we all headed back to Cawston for the reception, with drinks and oysters by the water’s side.

It was mostly a hot day with blue skies and sunshine… except for a very brief moment where it suddenly rained for about two minutes… and that was it. The rest of the day was sunny and warm. Dinner was served in the marquee in the meadow, speeches were delivered, and then the party began!
