In the picture on the left, there’s ham, egg, and chips for over 200 people! An unusual choice for a wedding breakfast, but after 14 years of eating meals at weddings, I can honestly say it’s up there with my favourites. It was delicious and perfectly done. There is so much skill in producing this seemingly simple meal flawlessly for so many people.

‘Your Event is our Pleasure’

This is what it says on the Anna Shutes Catering website, and I can attest to it being true. I think this is why I’m always pleased to see them at a wedding. Like myself, they get involved and become part of the celebration, going beyond just doing their jobs.

Bridget is often very willing to help out with any small babies that need cuddles, giving parents a moment to eat or listen to speeches. It has also been known for the staff to join in a little bit with the dancing in the evening (while serving up the evening food), I am there to capture the evidence!

I have crossed paths with Anna Shutes Catering many times over the years, probably because we are both regularly booked for self-hosted weddings—those in the garden of the family home, on a farm, in a field, and even on a cricket pitch… marquee weddings.

My approach to photography is well-suited to these weddings because I go with the flow of the event and don’t force any part of the day to fit into a photography schedule—I adapt to the day. I enjoy exploring new places that have never hosted a wedding before and likely won’t again. Often, these weddings often have a unique schedule different from the usual timetable a traditional wedding venue follows, and they always continue the celebration much later than a traditional venue.
